Fire Regulations
As the hirer of the village hall you are the 'Responsible Person' under the Fire Regulations 2006 and must accept the following responsibilities:Fire Doors
At the beginning of your event, open the bolts at the top and bottom of all fire exits (along the side of the Hall) and close them again as you leave the Hall.Windows
Ensure all windows are closed as you leave the Hall.Central Heating
If you have switched on the central heating manually, please switch it off as you leave the Hall.Lights
Please switch off all lights as you leave the Hall.Chairs
If you are setting out chairs in rows, they must be secured together in groups of up to five. Cable ties are available for this purpose in a drawer of the kitchen. Rows of chairs should be no closer than 350mm from the back of one chair to the front of the chair behind it.Naked Flames
Do not use naked flames (eg candles) in conjunction with paper tablecloths.Decorations
Do not hang decorations (eg Christmas) close to any of the lights, wall heaters or radiators and please remove them at the end of your event.Portable Electrical Equipment (PAT)
Any portable electrical equipment being used in the Hall must have a valid PAT test label on it.Rubbish
Please place all food waste, nappies and flammable substances in the dustbins in the grounds (near the gate).Halogen Light
The large halogen light at the back of the stage generates a lot of heat so if you are using it please take care not to allow anything to come into contact with it.Telephone
There is no telephone in the Hall so please make alternative arrangements for alerting the Fire Authorities (eg mobile phone) in case of fire.Please also note the following actions to take in the event of fire
- The doors down the side of the Hall are opened by withdrawing the bolts and pushing the bar upwards.
- Lights will come on outside the Hall as you go out.
- There is no emergency lighting so if electric power is lost you will need to guide people out of the building, especially disabled people.
- Fire exit signs are illuminated over the exit doors to the Hall.
- There is no fire alarm but on discovering a fire a loud shout should alert all occupants.
